SMWL is packing ... food, that is!
On July 28, 2020, as a part of our philanthropic efforts, SMWLA members volunteered to pack 360 boxes of nonperishable food items for Ozark Food Harvest. These boxes provided about 9,000 meals for our community’s low-income seniors.
The food items in those meals provide a supplement of the nutrients often lacking in the diets of seniors in need. All of these USDA commodities are packaged into boxes solely by Ozark Food Harvest volunteers - like our SMWLA members - at the O’Reilly Center for Hunger Relief. The food bank also collaborates with several senior centers to distribute food via meal or pantry programs.
